Frequently Asked Questions
Which cameras are supported? +
Ricoh GR II, GR III, GR IIIx, and GR IV are all supported.
The app can't find my camera over Bluetooth. +
Make sure your camera is turned on and image transfer is enabled in the camera menu. Check that Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone, and that GR Snap has Bluetooth permission in iOS Settings → GR Snap.
iOS asks me to join a Wi-Fi network — is that normal? +
Yes. After Bluetooth wakes the camera, the camera broadcasts its own Wi-Fi network. iOS shows a system dialog asking permission to join — tap Join. Photo browsing and download happen over this Wi-Fi.
Can I download DNG (RAW) files? +
Yes. Open Settings, set Download Format to "JPG + DNG" to download both, or "DNG" for the RAW only.
Can I delete photos from the app? +
No. The camera's API does not expose a delete endpoint, so photos can only be deleted from the camera itself.
Why does the Live Activity stop updating? +
iOS suspends Live Activities aggressively during long downloads or in Low Power Mode. Reopen GR Snap to see the current download status, and make sure notification permission is granted in iOS Settings.
What iOS version do I need? +
iOS 17.0 or later.
How do I report a bug or request a feature? +
Use the Get in touch button at the top of this page to send a short description. Including your iPhone model, iOS version, camera model, and camera firmware version helps a lot.
